The Value of Water
When it comes to water, safety is of paramount concern and too often home owners trust the water implicitly without a full understanding of how it is treated or what the original source is. It is by argument the most valuable resource on the planet with every species requiring some form of water on a daily basis. Boil water advisories, algae blooms, chemicals and agricultural runoff have become common everyday terms and no longer gain the public attention they deserve. Recent concerns over pharmaceuticals, heavy metals and emerging contaminants are generally not understood by the public for the risks associated with them. The value of water simply cannot be understated.

Drinking Water - A Personal Choice
What is the definition of drinking water? It is a matter of perspective for each individual. For some it is from a bottle purchased at the local store. It is only from a pitcher stored in your fridge or purified by water treatment at a separate kitchen tap. Tap water directly from the kitchen sink. Spring water directly from the ground or well. Lake water or filtered by a ceramic element. The choices are endless with very little in the way of publication as to the risks and benefits of each. The enormous scope of water complexity requires that every person make a personal choice as to the quality of water to drink. This choice requires knowledge of the original water source, water treatment and the potential risks for consumption.

The Emerging Role of Water Treatment

Treating water is now common place for both urban and rural consumers. There is no single treatment system which can "fix" water for all contaminants. Water Treatment devices are capable of removing harmful toxins, bacteria, water hardness, iron, sulphur, tannins, sediment and other contaminants which make water unsafe to drink according to the Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines. Predominant is the presence of bacteria (E-Coli or Coliform) in rural water supplies. Properly applied water treatment devices can provide reliable, safe water throughout a home and for drinking water.

Risks Associated with Water Treatment Devices

All water treatment devices require routine maintenance in order to ensure that they are functioning correctly. This is particularly important when dealing with bacteria in water. Understanding the operating parameters of equipment for water quality is a critical component of a successful water treatment system. Proper maintenance, water testing and system design work together to provide safe water. If any of the components are overlooked, the risk to water quality greatly increases.
