Q: Does this adaptor make the old plug with the small plastic dividing spade fit on the newer tube with the large plastic dividing spade ?

A: Yes. This adapter pushes onto the grey plug with a short center fin. It converts it to be able to work with the newer style lamps with a thin center black fin.
