Odour
|
Odour in water is usually from two main sources,
Chlorine and
Sulphur. "Rotten Egg Smell" is a result of Sulphur in the water. It can be found in drilled, shore or shallow wells. Chlorine is used as the primary disinfectant in municipal water supplies.
High levels of Iron or Hardness can also result in unpleasant odours or taste. Shallow wells or water sources that draw from low lying creek beds or ponds can have a "swampy" smell. There have also been some cases where an odour appears on the hot water only in the house. Treatment methods for odours include: Carbon Systems Oxygen Systems Chlorination Sulphur Filters Iron Filters Water Softeners |
