Drinking Water
|
We often judge the quality of water by the way it looks, smells and tastes. These are all very good indicators of potential problems. If the contaminant has no smell, taste or colour, do we know it is there?
Drinking water has to be Bacteria free, that is a non-arguable fact. The question for many people is: What else is in my water that can be harmful? When a high level of dissolved chemical contaminant exists in a lake or well supply and the test result for E-Coli and Coliform comes back safe to drink, is that water a good source of drinking water? Do we know the contaminant is there? Manitoulin Island has very unique characteristics with the volume of lakes, lack of soil depth and the fracturing of the rock structure beneath the surface. Water and contaminants can, in many cases, move freely between water supplies. This fact brings the quality of your well or lake source into question. |
![]() By definition Water is just that: H20. Two parts Hydrogen and one part Oxygen, nothing else. |

The water we drink comprises roughly 1% of the water used in a home. That 1% can be argued more important than the other 99%.
